MELAS

Mitochondrial encephalomyopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke-like episodes (MELAS), is a rare genetic mitochondrial disorder. Mitochondria are the powerhouses of our cells and when they do not work properly it can affect many different body systems. The brain, nervous system, and muscles are primarily affected in patients with MELAS.

AllStripes Research is approved and monitored by an independent ethics review board called WIRB (Western Institutional Review Board). WIRB is a group of people who review research studies to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects.
